Celtic Warrior
Lucas made it through a very hard treatment last night. Night 6 of his first round of chemo. He just woke up feeling clear, stood up out of his bed, washed his hands and said “I missed the first quarter of the Celtics game.” Like nothing happened. The grace that I feel right now, the level of pride in his attitude, words cannot do justice.
Prayers:
Lucas pupils are super dilated, and he got some cheater glasses yesterday , I pray that when he wears them he can do his legos and mess around w the IPad able to see clearly.
Chemo has killed a lot of white blood cells which is what we wanted , but this lowers his immunity. He’s on a lot of different preventative medication. We pray that this medication does his job to keep him infection free and that the antifungal medicine works
Positives:
Dr. Shannon Cohn Was thrilled to tell us yesterday that Lucas does not have the FLT3 genetic mutation. This Is just a preliminary result, not a final one but it’s positive news The genetics are a large issue in treating AML and very nuanced and complicated.
Lucas cracked some jokes this morning at 5 and wanted to walk to wash his hands.
Platlets reduced some of the blood issues he was having when he used the bathroom
Celtics dominated Brooklyn. But we did miss the first quarter. :)
Gratefulness:
Karen Lefever took care of jack and Dylan all week she built a system and orientation for the weekly caregivers.
Caregivers for the next 2 weeks that volunteered which is relieving
Tarrytown pharmacy , incredibly supportive people for us. Thanks to them
Prayer and positive intention matters. If you aren’t a praying person then I believe inhaling the good into your body for Lucas and exhaling the bad with intention is a powerful 2 minute meditation.
